This is a really interesting one. The last time I did this, it was probably in the late 90’s. I was watching a movie with a friend. He was sitting in a chair and I was sitting on a stool with my legs stretched out in front of me. I had my feet up on the table and was playing a game.
So I looked up and the guy next to me was playing the game with his feet in the air and he was doing a really great job of getting his own toes to touch the floor. I tried to do the same, but my toes were nowhere close to touching the floor. I couldn’t believe it. I was playing a game.
It’s a classic metaphor for the human condition, but the problem is that it’s also a very vague metaphor. A person who sits in a chair and plays a game with his feet up on the table is doing something that is entirely unique from the person who sits on a stool and plays a game with his feet down on the floor. The same can be said for memes. One person can get a meme from a very specific person, and the same can be said for other memes.
