I’m sure most of you have seen the ad for our new fall collection for just a couple of weeks. I can’t help but notice how many of these ads have the classic Hollywood-style “only fans reno gold” tagline. As you can tell, I have a thing for Hollywood and I thought that was a great quote.
No, really. I really like that it references the only-fans-reno-gold tagline, but its not just because I like the tagline. It just seems to work better with the brand of our only-fans-reno-gold apparel.
In the past few years there has been a lot of talk about how the only-fans-reno-gold tagline is becoming tarnished with the rise of the internet. There are a number of arguments to be made, but I think the main one is that consumers are starting to associate “only fans” with the bad guys, and “reno gold” with the bad guys.
I think this is a misnomer. I think only fans actually own reno gold, and they are more likely to be bad guys than good guys. I think the rise of the internet has helped, but I still think the only-fans-reno-gold tagline still works better.
